Ok well this thread has spun off and is related to the thread about the white dials or the dashboard.
I have been thinking a lot lately about the lighting of the 206 dashboard, it's very... orange isn't it?
Well this evening I decided to do some investigating and here are my findings...
1. The dash clock, I took the unit apart and behind the LCD panel there is an orange transparent film behind it with another white translucent film behind that to diffuse the light, if you take away the orange film and turn the headlights off so the clock is at it's brightest, the text is white and the rest is a shadey black/blue kind of colour. It does look quite nice, I'm not going to get any blue film for it because I think it will be too dark for daylight use.
2. The climate control lights. These are encased in one unit, I could not easily get the case apart so left it, but I did find that the lights there are also backlit by white bulbs, and I can guess that the LCD panel again will be backlight with a white and orange film behind it. The buttons may not have film behind them, I think the plastic might be coloured on the inside, I'm not 100% sure.
3. The dashboard. Mmmm this was my main goal, I managed to get the intrustment panel off the dash and disconnected the cables, the back of the panel must have around 20-30 bulbs lighting the dials and warning lights... I could not however get the black plastic surround off the front of the dials so I could not see how it is all coloured and lit, but going on from the previous 2 items it looks like Peugeot like to backlight the dash with white bulbs and then use white and orange film to colour.
Going from thre above information I would say that it would not be too hard to get the 206 dash lighting scheme changed from a dull orange to something that represents mighty dash ilke the new VW cars have, blue and red, that and also it would suit my bluetooth carkit which the control panel is backlit blue
By the way, for those who are thinking, my favourite colour is blue, especially when it comes to lights
I hope that information helps you guys, if I get around to actually doing work on these (most likely) then I will take many pictures so you can see how I have gone about this.
