Cheers Wardy - will go to pug 2mw and see if they can get me one!! Just in case!! Good to have protection from these things - especially when big money is a stake!!

tbh it feels like the acceleration is better, however it could just be the lack of car for a week, but then with a new coil pack and the premium bosch spark plugs fitted they may have made a difference...

Oh no I didnt, will do - hopefully 2day if its open, have to wait for rest of alcohol to drain my system before I drive tho!! ;D

Older cars always had a suppressor (capacitor) conncected between coil nd earth to stop interference on radio. Any coil breaking down sends a back emf (voltage) back to source if the voltage cannot go anywhere (ie, doesn't earth thro' spark plugs) and this is the ecu. This is the same in industrial applications and not just in cars. Coils de-energising give high voltage(low current) spikes which F@ck up control electronics. Funny how you never got these problems in 205 gti, xr3, golf gti etc!
