Hmm, next guess would be a fuel injector. If you're serious about considering something else anyway then perhaps you should change it. Read on here for the 'cutout problem' and related mysteries with the engine diagnostic light. Its not easy to fix, because Peugeot don't actually seem to know what the problem is. They just change bits until it goes away (which may only be temporary).

Yeah I know about the cutout problem I've been on this forum for 1 1/2 years now and know all the problems with the car. It's not about the performance or reliability of the car, it's the cost involved and ofcourse all these problems are appearing now that the car is out of warranty I really do like the 206, the design and looks etc... always have since it was released, but now afterh aving it for nearly two years I'm thinking it might be time to move on and get something more economical, to cost less nto only on fuel but insurance aswell. It's sods law that these problems start just as I'm considering changing the car, why couldn't they happen a few weeks from now??? Grrrrr

Give these guys a call, Wardy, they sell or recondition ECU's. Got a mag come from them about every quarter and we have got steering bits from them. www.power-steering.co.ukThey called Power Steering Services and are based in Greenwich. Tele: No. 020 8853 3343 Do all sorts of reconditioned and new parts They have so much more in their mag then they do on the website. Do you think you may have screwed it up when you attempted fitting a new coil yourself?? Not saying you inept or anything, but you know that its the coils that spike the ECU and knacker it

the AA guy took them out and I watched it all before, its a simple case of taking off the bolts and cabling then sliding the coil pack off the sparks. Plus the problem had started before they were touched by the AA guy hence the call out.
I'm just going to get the garage to replace the ECU and then part ex it, I've had enough stress from it I don't need any more, that way if it isnt the ECU then he can put my old one back and I wont pay for it.

Well, good news is that the ECU arrived and they have fitted it to the car, YAY!
However... I was told that the main Pug dealer needs to program the ECU now!!! ARGH!!!
So most likely I won't get my car now until tomorrow...
