Mines in the middle setting and I find that more than enough of a comfortable change.

So basically it makes the gear change less. Cause at the mo mine is like a bus (well not literally that bad) but I am hoping it will reduce it was when racing I can change the gears quicker.
Are there any other bonuses or disadvantages?

Are there any other bonuses or disadvantages? other bonus is its a cheap mod which makes the overall performance better cos you can get that next gear better. disadvantages I suppose is that it does modify the gear linkage which makes it warranty void and also I guess it puts a little more stress on the linkage but not that much to cause damage, cos lets face it, Pug must have designed the linkage to be that length and if it could be shorter they probably would have done.

I suppose so!! It is a cheap mod, and effective I suppose. I cant wait to test it out.
I will have to get used to changing the gear in a different way now, cause obviously you get used to a certain gear change in your car, just like pulling away. But that wont take long to pick up. My warranty is void n e way I think as its past so many years!

When you get it fitted just remember to too ring the gearstick so much, let the lever find the gear and feel the notches and bumps through it to let you know where its at and what it feels like, some reason my gearstick offers much more feel feedback of what its doing in the box than it did before, so you soon learn what the clonk engagement feels like and when its not there and such.
Just don't jank the lever like you are probably doing now.

What you trying to say? ;D
Cheers for that advice, I will be alot more careful, I will be afraid of breaking the thing. Will this be possible if I try to push it too hard into gear etc?

You know what I am trying to say - you young and like to race. No you won't be able to break it. The QS is bolted on and has eyes to take the ball socket connections so to fall apart would be something else. As for the gear change no you won't be able to move it beyond the change (in other words engage the gear and come over the other side as to disengage it again) as you will hit the bushes in the box which are designed to prevent over exertion on the stick, but being as you will be hitting these more often, then they will have tendacy to wear quicker, but you will probably have sold the car by then

Thats ok then, I hope this QS is good, I am hoping it is. Would you put a QS straight on your new car if you could?
I do like to race, its fun. I take alot of anger out whilst driving, on those poor other motorist's and on my poor car. ;D

on a new car, u can put it in, but your meant to run the car in gentle to maximise the engine life and performance.
the QS will feel amazing....like BIG said, dont get over enthusiastic and shove it into every gear, like everything else on the car, you gotta give it some TLC or it wont like u and give u loadsa hassle!

Would you put a QS straight on your new car if you could? Without hesitation. If I did get a problem then I guess I would have to take it off, but thats not such a big problem if you have a box trouble issue.

Does a QS make it easier to get gears? i have a nightmare getting mine into reverse and sometimes changing into second aswell unfortunately not.....only thing is tho, it makes life more bearable when u changing gears.....also its not as clunky....so it does feel alot better. something that BIG mentioned is that when u first get it on and your driving it, you need to get use to it coz sometimes it feels like its not going into gear when it has.

Well my Griffith Quick Shift arrived today, its really tiny compared to what I thought. Here are some pics! Only 11 days til its fitted. I had a gr8 day today as my new neons came to replace a broken one. I bought these neons from www.ebuyer.com (12" Blue Cathodes). They are designed for use in computers but I snipped the computer parts off and wired them in the footwells. Looks better than before. These neons are thin and light weight, they also produce hardly n e heat. Come with a decent switch and converter thingy. I put the old working neon in the boot. So my car lights up a treat. And only just over £5. Quite a good day!!

what i dont understand is how the new QS holds the throw distance.....like in the old one, there was three options to put the bearing in, now its just a slide, so how does this stay in position?

what i dont understand is how the new QS holds the throw distance.....like in the old one, there was three options to put the bearing in, now its just a slide, so how does this stay in position? Its infinately adjustable now. Where we have three setting and have to like and lump at least one of the setting, Lee can now adjust in millimeters to the acutal length of change he wants. The ball stud is held in the slider groove by a lock nut underneath. So if you want to adjust it you will need to dismantle the linkage, twist the ball socket and move it along to where you want it to go and then tighten it back up. Not quite as secure as ours I feel Chi, as I think our design cannot come apart but Lee's design it "could". If I was you Lee, I would get that ball joint adjusted to the middle of the slider as you have it set at the moment the maximum difference and bet your bottom doller the spanner guy will just fit it where it is at the mo. I would move it to the middle which will be set the same as mine and Chi's. You are also worth checking that that nut is tight!! and you are going to need a good spanner to get that lock nut loosened up too, but you want to set it now cos if you don't you aren't going to be happy with the change it will make set as it is now, I promise you that.
