Saw the new standard 206GTI with the new bumpers, honeycomb grill, rear lights, crome/lockable glove box handle and black speedo dials with the crome surrounds. Looks like to silvers out of fashion... Oh yeah this was at the dealers the other day whist my peice of crap 02 GTI was in again. Cats rattling now.. funny just after they gave it back after repairing an exhaust crack.

I have a set of "white" (silver) dials from a gti. It will come as the complete dash -minus the perspex on the front. The dials are the orange type to show on the silver.
The job of changing them over seems to put some of you off, but probably well worth it to maintain the original quality. You will need to use torques to remove the dials from the plastic but you dont have to get involved with dismatling the actual dials.
The dials read: (FROM LEFT TO RIGHT)
Fuel, RPM 0 - 7000, red 6400-->,5mph-135mph, Temp
Email your offer and we will take it from there. I also have other GTI parts available. Exhaust, Torsion Bars, Suspension Struts. etc etc

Hey GTIDan...
I'm from New Zealand and just took delivery of my new 206 SW. They come in GTI spec only here. I was very disappointed when I got it and discovered mine didn't have the White Dials. All the other things you mentioned were the changes they made for the facelift model. I like the honeycomb grille better, and have decided after all that I quite like the GTI 180 dials. They come in Km/h here, and have 110km/h at the top instead of 130 like in the 180.
All the rubbing strips painted to match is a plus too, although mine's black so it's not too obvious...but I notice!!!
I wonder if you also noticed if the silver door sill protectors are still there. The pre-facelifted models had them, but mine didn't. The dealer says these are the changes from different model years, but I can't see them deleting them, because they are a very nice touch. They usually don't take things off a new model, just add or change for better. Any ideas guys?
Still Love it though ;D ;D ;D

Can someone tell me if the dials are lit by orange coloured bulbs or are the lights white and then the dials have like an orange film behind them to show the colour?
As I'm very interested in finding out if I can have blue/red dials with a black backing... just like the new Golf TDI's as I love the colours!

This exact question was played out under "can yer change your instrument lights" its about on the board somewhere.
This would be my dream modification. I would love so bad to do this.
Just in case you are too lazy to run a search for the thread ;D;D;D;D;D;D;D;D it turned out that dials are lit by white bulbs and the orange effect is made by an orange film at about layer 3. e.g layer 1 = dials, layer 2 = black paper (just a guess), layer 3 = orange film, layer 4 = backing paper.
So without being able to dismantle the construction of the dials and replacing the orange film with blue, or cut each piece of orange film out from each little speed marker and replacing it with blue is it going to be possible.

Ok I'm tempted... and with christmas near that means there is another use for those quality street wrappers ;-)
Seriously though I am tempted to have a look at this and might try dismantling the dash this weekend, I have already taken some other parts off before when I was wiring my carkit in so it *shouldnt* be too hard, but maybe a little too cold!

If you do go ahead, please report your findings, then we can all have a VW dashed Pug.

didnt get time this weekend to do thedash, I'm wondering if it might be easier to get a silver dial set from lockwood and see what can be done... that way if I balls it up then I wont ruin the original, I can imagine ordering a new 206 dial set from pug wouldnt be cheap!

Lockwood only supply a transfer to go over the original dials. They don't supply a full set of dials. So if you screw it up, you will have to get new dials from Pug and no they won't be cheap.
You are only going to change the lights or just the dial faces

Well the reason I ask is because when I recently had a 1.1 look 206 loan car while mine was at the garage and I really liked the silver dash dials, im not sure if the black or silver would look better with blue lights... hmm well I'll still give it a try

Honestly I think both will look good. If you look at VW most have black dials, but I have seen some with white. Personally Black will be better than white, but they are both acceptable.
I personally don't like the white or silver dials of my GTi, I much prefer the 180's black chromed ring ones. Come to think of it, I wonder if Pug would change them?? You can't get a black lockwood kit and I like the Jaeger ones.
