sorry - newbie question again.
The K&N panel air filter?
Is it simply a case of opening the air filter housing , taking the paper one out and replacing it with the new one??
got to ask but feel embarrassed - it is the square panel filter isnt it , not the round one?
<cant believe i asked that when the housing square>
Can anyone tell me EXACTLY which one i would need for a 2000 2.0 HDI??
This will be the very first mod i do you see hence why im hessitant ;D

Check the How to guides for installation instructions, then check with K&N for their product code for the ideal replacement. The info is there, you will have to look though.

I went for a quikshift s/s induction kit, exhaust wise i had a magnex backbox with a devil cat replacement pipe, now the whole system is the devil cat replacement, powerflow cat back system with twin 4" titanium (just an option for the titainum) and i noticed the power gains from all that. Definatley get the cat changed for a bypass pipe though. Then getting the fueling and timing changed i suppose.

I have a full powerflow system with decat pipe. Gains were marginal but throttle response was alot better. If you guys want my advise then id stay well clear of Powerflow for everything but the decat. Ive had mine on my GTI for 5 months now and im already on my 6th b/box due to blowing the baffles. The poor quality steel is the problem. I personally would go for the Militek, ive heard really good things about them.
If you want really good gains though you need to change your manifolds to 4-2-1 system. TMS leeds do them and i believe they are approx £300. Alot of money but well worth it imo.
Induction is essential to. I did have the BMC cda which is a fantastic bit of kit.(on sale btw on ebay) Ive upgraded to the ITG now and its not much different tbh, maybe a bit more poke top end of gears. What i am looking forward to though is my Dastek Unichip which im having mapped on a rolling road April 9th. Havnt got much time right now but when i do, i'll be back to tell you guys all about it.

was looking for those k&n panel filters, but bloody hell do they charge the earth for delivery. cost of part = 28 quid, final cost after vat + carriage = 40 quid!!!! Sorry im just a tight fisted git, it aint that much considering you guys spend 1000s on your cars lol. ah well i guess ill look for a local parts dealer.

Only a handful of 206 owners on the board shell out thousands not all, the problem with cars though is that parts are very expensive even for the little things, ie £30 for a clear fog light which is merely a peice of clear plastic! The most I have spent on my car has got the be the alloys at around £730, followed by the stereo at £350, then a few bits and bobs... All depends on how much pride you take in making your car unique, not that theres anything wrong keeping it standard, people like Diag2000 has to as he gets a new car every 6 months or so... /me grins widely after hitting the 700 post marker

Any Halfords store with a Ripspeed bit sells K&N panel filters for about £35.
How much do you think Peugeot would charge you for one?? I think you will find they are about £30 all told, so K&N ones aren't so much of a rip off, being as they increase the performance of the engine, but reduce fuel consumption.

Here's the thing; I live in a hot country and from my experience with other cars an under the hood induction system is not a clever idea. I've done some research and there doesn't seem to be a filter kit with the cone placed inside and towards the bottom of the front bumper, which would be ideal (after it’s been vented or had fog lights removed). I know kits are available with ducting and a heat shield but if the type of system I want isn't available I can have it fabricated for peanuts. Although it’s a relatively simple part, I’d rather get a product that has been tested. Maybe some one knows where I can get exactly what I want? Other wise, your thoughts on possible problems with fabrication would be appreciated as the car is new to me and I haven't had a proper look at the structure behind the bumper yet.
