Am I missing a piece of foam or insulation from under the silver engine cover on my GTI, because the thing vibrates like crazy when I rev the engine, I have tried putting a few small pieces of foam type stuff between the engine and cover and even put a very thin washer on each of the plastic (rubbish) retaining screws to try and clamp it down a bit tighter, but the dam thing still vibrates at the edges. Any ideas?

I tried this. It works but you have to try and find something to hold the bits of insulation in place.

Like Superglue?!? Should work OK - or does it need to be more heat-resistant??

Are you sure its the cover and not the exhaust manifold?
I'd remove the cover and chuck it in the shed for now...

That is the easiest way to check it. Just remove it. I drove about with it like this for a while.
