My 2.0 Hdi 206 has just started ticking over at between 1000 and 1200 rpm without the a/c or heated rear window on. I thought this was due to the cold weather at first but it appears to be doing it even after a long run. I am worried about it going wrong again since it is now out of warranty. It appears to run okay with no apparent loss in power. Has anyone else had this problem with their 206 Hdi? By the way it is a 2001 model, pre-multiplex.
Thanks

Even if the engine is hot, the ECU start routine takes the external temperature to be the temperature to initiate the start routine. It will mean that you will run higher idle rpm due to the engine wanting to get hot quicker.
Out of interest have you got your heater up on full or at a high temp, because if this panel is requesting heating then the car needs to be hot to respond to the demand, therefore it will adjust the engine to get hot quicker, thus running higher to generate more heat. Bit like Toyota's quick heat function where the car will start to deliver warm air after 2 minutes even from stone cold.

Thanks Big Ol,
Your reply has put my mind at rest. I will try turning the heater down tommorrow. I must admit it has only started ticking over fast since the outside air temperature has been <5 degC.
