Last night after driving home I parked and got out of the car (key not in ignition) as i was going to close the door i hear a faint beeping (like if you've left the lights on) and looked at the dash - no warning lights on - then checked everything was off -yep - then checked the display - no message. So assumed nothing was wrong and car was in fact just on one, tried to lock the car and it wouldn't 'plip' remotely. So i locked it with the key and let it arm the alarm itself... Which it did. THEN i thought "oh the car must be letting me know that the battery is dead" so i went upstairs to get my spare key.. Came down and tried the 'old' key first, not spare on the car... And it unlocked with plip this time... And has worked fine. This has happened to me once before and i thought it was warning me of flat battery then, as after slapping the back of the key it worked ok. But now i think of it the only possible thing it could be warning me about is that the engine needed to have the fan on cos it was too hot (but doesn't the car do this anyway?) So i'm stumped.. Anyone? Both times it has only refused to lock (via the remote) for about two minutes then it lets me lock it...?

I have had this - and still have it. I have had two types of beep One is a warning beep to let you know a doors not shut and the alarm beeps to warn you, also to tell you that the its unable to arm. But thats quite loud. The other- well I don't know about that either, I get it sometimes and swear that it also happens when driving too, cos I hear this definate peep. Its quite quiet isn't it, like your PC when it boots up. Only get 1 beep don't get beeping But you can just about hear it.

I don't know what to put it down to be honest.
I can't think it should be doing it, but it never has given me any locking/unlocking problems.
BTW - Have been invited to be the first test driver of the new C2 VTR this weekend at local dealers - launch weekend aswell. Can't wait.

VTR version is coming on launch. VTS version is coming early 2003 poking out 120hp.
The 225 version is only available as a Group N type rally car, but Citroen is offering preperation and parts through the dealers.
The 225 version is being developed to replace the One make Saxo rally car. Its designed to help train and develop rally drivers.

I had this on my 206 XSi and eventually it wouldn't unlock with the 'plip' and then it wouldn't start. After the RAC had towed it in to the dealer they said that the car was not recognising my keys (tried both) and they had to reset everything; it's been OK since (6 months).

Yeah only had it not unlock for me once - recoded the key by unlocking it with the key, setting all the alarms off and turning on ignition with the lock button pressed for 5 seconds, everything worked fine after that
