Right!
Need something sorting.
I've got out of my GTi 150bhp from various mods.
A Renault Clio172 has if i'm right 170ish bhp.
Yesterday off the lights (very childish I know) I raced one of these and won! get in!!!
Now is my car quicker or was the other driver a girl thingy!?
I think prob the later.
Anybody else had this "challange"?
I'm interested to know.
Thanks

The 172 could have a much greater top end I suppose!!
Did they seem to be trying to challenge you?

Well I have got a GTi 180 and my old man has a Clio 172 sport and there aint much in it at all, i mean sometimes i beat him and sometimes he beats me; so i would have to say the person driving the Clio in your case may have not had the bottle to push it all the way.

isnt the 172 sport lighter or is that the 172 cup?
coz if so, then it might just sneak it.

the cup is the lighter model and is supposed to be a bit quicker, but nothing really noticable.

It could also be down to gear change timing, so you change at the right time to get the best acceleration, also starting from lights and getting the right balance of clutch and gas makes a lot of difference too. i noticed that if you quickly let go of the clutch and floor it you shunt forward until the clutch fully grips and you studder off slower then you would if you floor the gas and let the clutch 'grind' a little to get the best acceleration.... if that makes any sense at all
