How many of you get an electric shock off your car when you get out of it?. Happens to me all the time, no matter what kind of car I am in. I've got in the habit of closing doors by pushing on the window.

Could be your shoes. If you have thick rubber on them then you will get a high voltage build up over time in your body undtill you contact through an earth point. Happens to me all the time with one pair of shoes on but not with the other. ;D

I get this all the while with my C2, but never so much with my GTi.
I think its to do with clothes, if you wear a lot of man made fibres like polyester when it gets rubbed against your seats it builds up static charge, and when you get out and touch your car your car is normally earthed so you when you get out the charge is earthed through your car.
