I know this has been discussed before but I always prefer the most up to date point of view. Car is due 40K service in 500 miles and I can't decide whether to take it to Peugeot or my local garage. I've had loads of work done at my local garage and they are very good, reasonably cheap etc. What do peeps think? When I come to sell the car is it worth more with full Peugeot service history? Any comments are much appreciated. Cheers guys

its nice to know the previous owner serviced it with peugeot but i always buy the parts and give it to the local dudes to do the work for me... much cheaper and get them to stamp the book.....

Go to local dealer Emily - it will save you a packet!!
And as long as it has a service history I dont think it matters where it was done - pug or not!!

QUICK UPDATE.......... Peugeot are quoting £159.99 + £19.99 for a brake fluid change which they recommend you have done. Local garage are quoting £200 and that doesn't include a brake fluid change Do you think they are going to fit Ferrari parts? ;D Looks like I'll be going to Peugeot after all!

Very strange - I would have to look into it more if I were you. Pug have certain service levels - I think 60 is the major one (correct me if I'm wrong) so at 40 its just an intermediate. I.e. not as much will get changed.
Maybe the local garage are going to sort out more stuff and change more things to newer!!
But if they are both doin the same work then of course go to Pug!!
Tell the local garage that Pug are only gunna charge the amount above and try to get them to lower it. ha ha

It’s a matter of choice. These are my opinions only based on why to go to a non-Peugeot garage
Pros: Cheaper. Dealers charge 69 pounds for a 20 K service. All this includes is oil and filter change plus inspection. Oil and filter is around 20 pounds if bought privately. I used to buy oil from Makro, castrol magnatec (semi synth) was around 13 pounds. Oil filter was 8 pounds from Honda and 50 pence for an oil sump gasket. These prices are based on my previous car a Honda CRX.
Possibly a better job, as these guys are looking for the business
Better customer service, we all know what Peugeot dealers are like
Cons: technical know how of your exact car. Non dealer garages just do all cars. Your service book not being stamped. Although, some dealer garages also stamp books.
Also, correct me if I am wrong. According to new EU rulings, getting your car serviced from a non-dealer garage DOES NOT invalidate your warranty.

em, i am guessing your car is outta warranty??
if the price is better then i suggest using peugeot.....that stamp is better than the local garage when it comes to selling!

I wouldn't worry about service history. I'm on my 20th car and have never been asked whether my car had service history or not. You need to find out what both garages are going to do to your car before you decide.
