Hi There
I am a new owner of a peugeot 206, Y reg. I have purchased a JVC stereo and was wishing to install that in the car. The peugeot has a cd player fitted at the moment. I have tried looking for specific instructions but am struggling a little bit. I was wondering if somone could give me some info please ?
The questions are:-
1. I dont have the code for the factory fit CD player. Is there any way I can get this please ?
2. I want to remove the factory fit stereo but dont have the unlocking tool i.e. the 2 holes in the stereo. Is there a technique to try and get the factory stereo out ?
3. Do you think the ISO plug in the 206 is going to fit in my JVC KD701 stereo. I went to Halfords and the guy, who looked like he knew what he was talking about, said that the original iso loom of the 206 will fit to the JVC
4. I have already bought a facia adaptor. Is there anything else I need to fit the stereo ?
Many thanks.

question 1. Call your nearest dealer hand over you reg and they will tell you that over the phone free of charge (and dont let them say you need to pay, its free)
Question 2. all you need is a metal clothes hanger......cut it with pliers in a way so get a "V" shape tool...make two of these and then simply push each end of the V shape tool into the located holes on the standard stereo and pull your out....
Question 3. dont know what year your car is but i have a 2001 and i didnt need an adapter...my standard ISO fitted in my alpine direct...so should yours..
question 4. dont even need that facia adapter....you wont need anything else...

wow, that is a speedy reply. Thanks. Too late about the facia adaptor, already bought it. Doesnt matter. Strange thing about the radio code. I went to a dealer and they were asking me 15 quid to find the code. never gave me an option of the registration document. I'll follow up on your suggestion.
The only greay area regarding the coat hanger thing is that my stereo only has 2 holes, i.e. 1 hole on the left and 1 hole in the right. I do see that some stereos have 4 holes, 2 on the right and 2 on the left.
WIll the hangar thing still work with mine ?
thanks once again.

even easier then go and cut two straight rods out of the hanger and then push each end of the rod into the holes...u may need to play about with it till u unclick the lock....matter of pushing it in the right angle.... but you'l get it right.....

One thing is ,for those looking on here later, that not all 206's need the mounting adaptor for the faceplate.
My 2004 XSi took my Kenwood stereo without any adaptor for the face plate or wiring. (I ended up returning the mounting adaptor to Halfords for a refund and the head unit came with an ISO to Kenwood adaptor). I even attempted to use the faceplate but it would not fit.

I 'phoned original dealer car came from (not dealer I got car from) and they gave me code over the 'phone - no questions asked I used 2 thingytail sticks to remove radio. Just push them in and push back the clips. You'll see how they work better when you get it out. I got adaptor from e-bay for £4. It doesn't adapt anything - it only fills in the gaps. My sony stereo also connected straight to pug wiring.

Ok, i tried ringing original dealer and not original dealer. The original dealer say that they dont have a record of the vehicle and want 15 quid. The other dealer says the same.
I will try and get the stereo out tonight. Thanks for the info.

success. The stereo is fitted with no major issues. Need to get an aerial adaptor. Went to 2 halfords yesterday and none had them in stock.
The install has gone well. The stereo dims when the lights are switched on too. Cool.
Not sure if the stereo is holding its memory though. I Preset a radio station and that has been kept. However, the MP3 track does not start of from where it was left, after the ignition was switched off. Maybe a setting or something ?
Also, what would the best replacement speakers be. I just want to change the 2 front ones without any distruption and also at a reasoneable price.
Once again, many thanks.

Nice one, my alpien head unit wont dim with the lights but ive just set it to the lowest setting manually anyway and it fine with im driving.
Much better then the standard box pug shove in with the cars as standard :S
As for the speakers there are many out there to use, I prefer components in the front to use the tweeters, I got a set of alpines, but be careful not all speakers will fit in the front, best check with some place like Halfords they advised me.
I also have a 350watt sub in the boot, takes a little space but the sound quality is much better as I have set the stereo to filter mid and high range sounds to the speakers and then the low range sounds to the sub, no distortion in sound when played loud.
Some people prefer to have 6x9's in the rear parcel shelf too, I think it's a little OTT and if you have passengers they will get deafened!!
It's you choice, have fun!

Maybe a setting or something ? swap over the yellow and red cable.....my alpine stores radio stations even after unplugging it Nice one, my alpien head unit wont dim with the lights but ive just set it to the lowest setting manually anyway and it fine with im driving. alpine lights are way too bright! i had to wire mine up so it dims....and i turn the display off to total black......too much light
