just to change the topic back on the rails, I have found that the original filter lasts allot longer than 3 washes and I use it liberally. Im on 5 washes now and its still working!

Mitch - This may sound like a dumb question but how do you know when the filter has outlived its use? Obviously by the standard of the auto-dry effect once its complete, but is there any way or telling in advance? Thanks.

Just bought this on Friday. Used it on my car and wifes. Both cars are black and done a brilliant job. No marks at all after drying. Just have to find place that sells shampoo and filter. ps Bought a lambswool washing mit from pound shop...........great!

The first filter lasts 3 washes (thats what they tell you) then the replacement filters, which you can pick up from halfords, garages etc, last 10 washes, but they also have a window on em and when that turns from grey to brown, its time to replace em. arent the flash ppl helpful
