In a curious state of mind today ;D was just wondering how easy, what costs and what cons there would be to converting a peugeot 206 over to LPG fuel?

Is that gas? If so then there are not many places that sell it, so would not really be that good!! Think theres about 3 places around here is a 40 odd mile radius - but I am in the sticks!!
But thats all I know - less emitions aswell!! (cant spell - sorry)

50% cheaper fuel, 20% less MPG for petrols, dont think theres much difference in power but it doesnt say on their site.
I wouldnt mind converting but cant imagine it being cheap to do the conversion even with a grant from the government.

You've got to be proper tight fisted to do an LPG conversion on a 206!! I can understand it on big off roaders but on a 206 it would take loads of miles to break even with the cost of the conversion! Tax benefits wont last long and the last time i heard the government grants had all been taken.

PUG have stated on their website that a 206 with LPG conversion is still more harmful to the environment than the HDi 206 2.0 (wrt emissions of CO2, HC's etc).
Personally unless you have loads of filling stations around you it may not be worth it.
Things you would need to work out are.
1) Are you willing to throw this money away. The savings from converting to LPG cannot be recovered quickly.
2) Are there enough suppliers of LPG locally to make it worth it. Also check with the garage that they get a constant supply. I have been at a garage that sold LPG on the price list but had not had a delivery for 2 months, the guy with the LPG only car was not happy.
3) I dont know how the ECU would react but they must have found a way around it.
At the end of the day, personally I would think that if you are a high mileage driver then it would be benificial to do the conversion (or change to diesel) but for the average Joe then its a bit iffy as it costs alot and takes a very long time to recover that cost (and the government may put the price up in the mean time)

Like I said just curious some interesting replies though. They do mention on that site a 100% grant to pay for the whole converstion not my model though. I know Shell around where I live have loads of these pumps now and theres a fair few Jet garages as well with it.
