Hi from a new member. I have just bought a used GTI! I have been looking for one for ages and it has been very difficult to find the right car. I have not even taken delivery of the vehicle yet but I did notice a couple of differences on this vehicle that someone may be able to help with. The car is fitted with an SP pack. Does this mean that it just has the wheel arches fitted? The front grill is plastic, I would have expected a mesh grill. There is no GTI badge on the back of the car. I know these are just cosmetics but I have not even got the car yet and so cannot ask any other stuff, but standby you experts. I will be relying on you.

Sport pack has a few parts to it. Most people just spec the arches, front grille and the rear spoiler. They are all available seperately so you don't have to have it all. It's pretty expensive to buy the whole kit from Peugeot, so it's worth paying a couple of quid more on a used car for it all.
One upon a time i believe lowering the car using Eibach springs were also part of the SP kit.
You can also get bonnet vent grilles and grilles for the little gap between bonnet and bumper.

SP Kit includes:
Wheel Arch Extensions Wire Mesh lower grille (the big one) Upper Wire Mesh Grille (grille either side of the Pug badge) Lexus Rear Lights (not always) Wire Mesh Bonnet Vent (not always) Boot Lip Spolier
All items are fitted as per request. If it has all this then it has the full SP kit, if not then it only has parts of the kit.
There should be a GTi badge after the 206 badge on the boot lip. Some early models also had a GTi badge under the side repeaters.

Thanks to you both for your response. It seems that the SP kit is as you want if you do not want the full pack. There is a spoiler on the boot lip but no GTI badges or mesh grilles. Oh well never mind, I guess these can all be retro fitted easily. Are you aware of any good sites that I can look at for these items?
I shall now just wait patiently for the next week to drag by before I take delivery of the vehicle.
Thanks again for your responses, happy new year.

there is a full kit and there is a 'full' kit.
I'd class the rear spoiler, wheel arches and the front grille as being the 'full kit'. If you've got those 3 things then you've got the main bits, the rest not really worth the money as they are just tiny detail.

mesh grilles. Oh well never mind, I guess these can all be retro fitted easily. Are you aware of any good sites that I can look at for these items? Urm yeah - Here!!! If you look in power-up or it may be in talk, look for Lockwood Gille (or something like that) one of our mod's has just completed a project with Lockwood, (a well known company for dial kits) for a front grille. They offer two styles, one very similar to Pug's. Prices are, so I've heard around £60-£75, much cheaper than Pug's but you will also need to have it fitted. Pug's prices for front grilles are: lower (the big one) £185 inc fitting and the upper (either side of the Pug badge) £45 as a part. Do NOT pay to have the upper grille installed. Buy it as a part from the parts desk. Installation instructions are included in the kit or check out "How do I" thread on this board. Its so easy to fit yourself a ten year old could do it.

Thanks for that BigOL, Sounds like good advice. Yeah the Pug items do seem rather pricey, (how surprising). I spotted one on E bay yesterday (the bottom grille), and that was already up to about £80 I think! Then if it has to be fitted there is the cost of that also. Sounds like Lockwoods will be the best deal. As soon as I have the car, hopefully Friday, I will look inot getting the grilles sorted, hate the plastic ones. I was also surprised to see that the car was not fitted with rear head restraints either. I reckon I would be lucky to get those off E bay, I bet they cost a packet from Pug too. Anyway, thanks again BigOl for your help with the grilles, much appreciated.

No problem - BTW the car should come with rear headrests, three of them. If you think Pug is gonna charge to much, see if your local scrap dealer has got a 206 with a leather interior in his yard and you will probably pick the headrests up for a fiver a peice.

Earlier GTI's didn't come with rear headrests. I have a 2000 GTI and wanted rear headrests. After trying a couple of Peugeot breakers I found two front leather headrests from a GTI for £65. I simply removed the plastic blanking plates, inserted some new plastic inserts from Peugeot and the rear headrests fitted like a treat.
Note: The earlier GTI's had the completely filled in headrests, the later GTI's had the donut shaped ones. The later cars also had headrests that fitted down over the seat.
BTW, Peugeot wanted £125 for EACH headrest!

Thanks to you all for the replies. This site really is worthwhile. You guys are a great help. Just hope that I can be as helpful to members in the future.
The GTI I have bought is a 2000. So maybe it was bought originally without the head restraints. I will now canvass all the breakers yards and try to locate the items. Any body know of any good breakers in Norfolk/Suffolk area. I am hoping to get the Car on Friday so no doubt you guys will be fed up of my questions bt next week, I reckon!
Thanks Pugilist.

Any body know of any good breakers in Norfolk/Suffolk area. Only one I know of is Hainford Hall, Hainford which is in Norfolk, on the Cromer Road passed St Faiths north of Norwich Airport. I don't know if the breakers are still out at Lenwade (Norwich-Taverham way) after it caught fire in the summer of 03
