I want to lower my 206 gti but i dont understand the mm thing on buying the springs etc, someone told me that 35mm is lower than 50mm? Also can anyone recommend some good springs (want them delivered really quick aswell??) Please help

The quoted mm size is the drop, ie how much shorter they are than standard. 50mm is more of a drop than 35mm, so on 50mm springs your car would be lower. How much of a drop are you wanting to go for?

if you have a GTi, then its already lower than other 206s.....i think by about 10mm - 20mm......so if u were to lower it 35mm, it will sit lower than say a normal 206 lowered 50mm.....i think that is what u mean from the first post?
alot of people wil say u need new dampers with new springs but some others will also say that u dont need new dampers if you do not lower excessively............the choice is yours?

I am going to put 17's on it soon so i dont really know how much of a drop i want, i just want it to be lower lol. What do u guys think?

first of all, i am guessing you have a GTi? right?
if so then you should go for something like a 35mm drop on good quality springs (i.e. eibach) this is to keep the driveability of the car and not look too low.
by putting on a set of 17's and not lowering, your car will have the stance of a 4x4 ( i currently have 16's and my car sits too high)...so lowering will make it visually look muchos nicer.........but its something which u have to let your insurance company know about!

I didnt realise that the GTi was already lower, cool!!
I wanted to lower mine, XS 40mm all round. But when I get the GTi, if its lower already I will only lower it 35mm as Chi has said. So it will look be lower than I previously wanted but that cool!!

i know this is sad to do and no i aint done it, but if u park next to a GTi, u will notice that it is lower straight away!
i am thinking of 35mm-40mm drop for me too, but only when i have the money to pay for the mod and also to pay for the increase in premium!

BTW a mm is one tenth of a centimetre. So 35mm is 3.5cm and 50mm is 5cm
Its the amount of drop from the height you have now to the amount of height you would lose using lowering springs.
For a GTi on 17's don't go much more than 35mm, you can get some medium quality ones that drop 40mm (4cm)
You also will want to level the car up. as the rear rides higher than the front, so drop the front 35mm and the rear on the torsion bar 40-45mm. If you are thinking of continuing to use the standard shocks absorbers (dampers) then don't save up and get some new ones that will accomodate your springs. You will totally knacker you original dampers very quickly if you use lowering springs and not uprate the dampers at the same time.
