Kevo will sort you out a price and he will also post to you.
Its quite tricky to fix as you have the air-bag and thats classed as an explosive device. I think I am right in saying that you need to disconnect the battery for 2 hours or something before you disconnect it as it could go off while you are removing it. Which is not a good thing. You are best to seek the advice of someone in the know about changing it.

I think I am right in saying that you need to disconnect the battery for 2 hours or something before you disconnect it as it could go off while you are removing it. diag said that its about 20mins for the airbag to become de-activated. my question other than the multi-plexing is after you have fitted the new steering wheel, will the airbag become activated once you fit it back into place? and are all airbags compatible with the two different steering wheels (GTi and normal models)

Yeah the bag will become active again, you only have to disconnect it to discharge the electronics that operation the bag. You need to do this for safety as it just absolutely prevents the bag from going off. Also if you take the connector off it can cause the bag to go off, but this time period prevents it from happening.
It will reactivate as long as you re-install it correctly and make sure the plug is connected back on which I assume you will.
I can only assume the bags will be the same for all models, but they may be year dependant, which means that 99 models might have a different configuration than a 2004 model might, just like a facelift equipment is different from other model years.

Are the airbags for multiplexed cars not different to pre multiplexed cars??
The later 'bag looks nicer but i've heard you can't swop them....
