Just bought a GTI Rear Beam with brake pads/discs and handbrake cabels. Has anybody on here done this before? Has anybody got GTI-6 (285mm) brakes on the front? As you maybe able to tell, im in the middle of a costly project lol At the moment i have Black Diamond discs (pic below) with EBC pads at the front but these are for the LX model (the model of the car) and im uprating to GTI spec. Thanks

Have you noticed better performance with them compared to standard GTI brakes? Thanks

I'm sure they do work better (i dont drive it that fast to notice!) but the main difference is the extra confidence that they won't fade as quickly. They do work very well though when the pedal is pushed hard.

yeah i had a really good chat with the guy from there the other week told me they do the gti conversion in full for 3500 and will put an xsi engine in for 1750 which apparently is very popular but the rear axle conversion is only 350 thinking of doing that next summer if i still have the car

Well, i have bought all the parts needed for £109 and been quoted £150 for fitting. Plus the car is not driveable to the garage and the garage who will be carrying out the conversion are local so i will be keeping towing costs to a minimum

Jeez that does sound alot better, just out of wondering what parts do u need for the conversion? because im thinking of doing that to pretty inexpensive for all that extra safety, what part of the country u in bud?

Im from yorkshire buddy, and yourself?
The parts needed are
Rear beam, Brakes, pads, and handbrake cabels as far as im aware. If there is anything else that is needed i will pick it up along the lines.
However, the parts i have 'bought' have not yet arrived, nor have i recieved ANY communication from the seller so there is a strong possibility i will be travelling up and down the country for parts.. good old astra van is coming in handy ;D

I got them from a GTi 180 that was advertised for breaking on Ebay. I just asked if they still had the brakes and that was the price they offered. It was good considering they were so new and i could still sell them for more than that if i wanted!
