I agree with BigOL.
Why do you need a complete front brake set including bearing?
If its to uprate your brakes I would just get a good set of discs (I prefer groved) and a set of decent pads (green stuf). This would improve the braking on the car & probably introduce less problems than changing the complete bearing etc.

They look pretty much brand new so there's not much to moan about really... What brakes does an XS have? Are they 247mm? Vented or plain? I'm just wondering about the price...i got some GTi 180 brakes (800 miles old) for £165 - if anything they are THE upgrade to go for...so i suppose GTi 138 brakes for £100 is reasonable...but i wouldn't bother paying anymore than that...

i am just asking out of curiousity......i hate my brakes.....but ultimate question is whether they will fit?
the XS has little plain discs and i am unsure of the size???

If you wnat better brakes then get them. At the end of the day do manufacturers just fit grooved discs and better pads for top spec models? No they keep them plain but make them bigger... Replacing standard but bigger discs and pads when they wear out is cheaper than replacing after market stuff as well... You don't really need the hubs though but can keep them as spares...as they will be cheaper than replacing bearings in your current hubs...

Yes you should tell your insurance company but...
they are standard brakes - they look standard and the only way somebody could tell is if they got their tape measure out. The calipers are the same design on all models so they don't stand out at all! If you got aftermarket uprated stuff in standard sizes they imediately look different so you can't get away with it! Standard brakes from a higher spec car win everytime!

only worry i have with changing the calipers is bleeding the brake fluid.... nasty stuff if it squirts and with brakes too dangerous to let myself loose on them.... though pads i'd change....
one further point to mention on those calipers are that they are not springy... as in when you pull them back they dont return to thier normal position... when i was given a set for my car 1 of the calipers given to me were of those kinds which was not right for my car.... in comparison the one for my car returned to its normal position when pulled away the other one did not..
must be something to do with the set up of the brake pump & servo or ABS if you have one
