the front passenger & front driver windows , the ones you can wind down, not the windscreen that has no tint on it......

you've only been given a fine and no other documentation to say you have been told to take the tints off, like a producer which states you have been given a period to produce your documents & show you have removed the tints? i wouldnt do a thing then untill something on these lines are given.... there notes on thier pads are for reference use and if they had not given you a warning of written confirmation then i dont see why you should remove them.
correct me if i'm wrong

YEH THATS RIGHT NO PRODUCER OR NOTHING, JUST A 30.00 FINE! ITS NOT AN M.O.T FAILURE BECAUSE IT WOULD BE TO EXPENSIVE FOR THE MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT TO SUPPLY 18.000 OR SO M.O.T GARAGES WITH A TINTMAN TESTER ALSO NOT EVERY COP CAR HAS ONE OF THESE, ITS MAINLY TRAFFIC DIVISION, COP BIKES, UMARKED CARS & THOSE VOLVOS.

a court can make a judgement and force you to take them off, but police i dont think can verbally tell you to remove them and expect that to hold up in court...in most cases its verbal warning, then written notice and if you dont agree then its down to the court to decide......police can only stop you driving the car I.E. pound your car etc etc
i wouldnt remove nothing unless i was given a written warning of some sort...

Thats not quite right, if the police have issued a fine and bundled in the fine or with the paperwork is a proabition notice, then you have been given a period of time to correct the car. You then have to prove you have rectified the car to conform with the proabition notice at your local police station to get the proabition notice lifted. If you continue to use the car and are caught again, which you will be as it will be recorded that the car has not complied with a proabition order, you will become a marked car.
Once you are pulled over, you car in the eyes of the law is automatically unroadworthy, its immediately impounded and you are charged with not compling with a proabition notice and driving without insurance as an unroadworthy car is automatically invalidates your insurance policy.
You will get a severe telling off by a magistrate, and get a possible points or licence ban.
Take the adivce of someone who has had a proabition notice on one of their works veichles. It a spot check on the side of the road, which discovered a cracked spring. The van was ONLY allowed on the road to return to base, and to get repair work done. Thats it. Meanwhile I read the documents with the notice.

Well I am not a lawyer, but if you haven't been issued with a compliance notice, proabition notice or a DoT inspection then I would pay the fine and leave the tints on.
