I had the fairly common problem of the exhaust going just in front of the backbox. I was faced with Pug's standard response of 'we'll have to replace the whole lot including the cat - that'll be £350 please'. My local Kwik Fit weren't particularly helpful on the phone so I did a bit of asking around (including on this board) and a couple of people mentioned Powerflow. There's a branch pretty close to me and they seemed pleasant and knowledgeable on the phone. When I went down there and spoke to them they didn't hurry me and went through all the options to give me what I wanted (not too much of a boy-racer sound but something that sounds a little bit throaty etc.). I didn't feel as though they were talking down to me just 'cos I don't know much about car mechanics and they let me make an informed choice that ended up with me getting exactly what I was after. You also get the benefit of the guarantee (although you have to take it back for annual checks).

This is taken from Milltek's website:
Hi-flow Sports Cats
Your original catalytic converter will typically have 400 or 600 cells per square inch (cpsi), these original cats are restrictive in their flow, typically allowing an open area of around 55-65%.
A Milltek Sport Hi-flow Sports Cat which will be fully integrated into a large bore downpipe, has only 100-200 cpsi depending on application. These cats have an open area of between 75-85%, thus reducing back pressure substantially and increasing flow rates, all very desirable for extracting more performance, especially on turbocharged engines. Emission levels are maintained at legal limits by careful selection of the volume of the metallic substrate. Lamda probe positions remain unchanged from the original equipment.

Back again having the exhaust put right, after a few miles i started losing performance and way to noisy so having it made quiter at the moment and hopefully regain my performance i mean serious powerloses my mate was pulling away from me on the motorway in a 1.3 toyota starlet. very embarrasing also cant get the car off the speedo anymore. dammit

How much bhp does that add then??

That depends on how you want them to tune it - you could go for more BHP and a sh*t fuel economy, or somwhere in between. Before and after printouts (and don't start with the whole 'how accurate are dyno's' thread again please) for mine were 132 and 145BHP. That still gives me around 29MPG average.
