Hmm, havent posted in a while, but here goes... In, what i can only describe as a sensible moment in my life, I opted to buy a 1.1 (thats right 1.1!!!) 206LX instead of the 1.4 or higher to get a bit of fuel economy on my 100 mile round trip each day. I thought it was decent for the first month or two but having driven the car for a while now, i'm beggining to think that it's a girls car. The reason for this is, it has absolutely no power going up even the slightest incline and when I put my foot down...i get an astounding...Nothing! thats right, nothing happens! Is there any way, I can make this car perform a bit better? or is it even worth trying to make a 1.1 engine go faster or did i make a big mistake by trying to save money on fuel? I don't know what the standard BHP is for a 1.1 but i've managed to push it past the Pug quoted 97mph Max to 105MPH up the M11 but thats on a small downhill gradient, is this bad for the engine? Would it be possible to take it to a pug dealer and ask them to fit a bigger engine? is it worth doing that? and how much would somethign like that cost? I know the questions are disjointed etc but i'm at work and been typing this up every few minutes when people arent looking Many thanks for any help you can give me guys.

Well at least you didn't get the 1.4 as this has major mis-fire problems apparently! Putting in a new engine would cost far too much to warrent doing, you'd be better off trading in the 1.1 and getting a new car.

That'll teach you! ;D ;D ;D Seriously now, don't ever buy a lower spec gasoline car to save fuel, you buy a diesel. Expensive you say? Well, you aren't satisfied with your car now aren't you? Get a regular diesel, or better still (if you can scrape the money) a HDI. Putting in a new engine is not such a straightforward job as you might think. New engine, gearbox, new suspension (since bigger engine is heavier especially true for a HDI) etc. - too costly. I agree with Mullet here and say you go for a trade-in for a new car (or private sale, whatever works better). I think there is a 1.4 HDI in a 206 range on sale now, check it out, since it should be more frugal and less expensive than a 2.0 HDI, and should have a fairly better punch than a 1.1 although anything bigger than a lawnmower would have more punch than a 1.1...
Good luck!
