Hi all, I have a W reg 206 1.4 LX and i have a problem with it!!! When i first strat my car in the mornings and when i leave work (cold start?) i can drive away for a min or two (just enough to get me down the road) then it starts playing up... The revs go up to 2500 on their own and there is the sound of air? as if the aircon is on coming from the left hand side of the engine, at the same time the engine is stuttering as if its trying to blow some crap out. If i put my foot on the throttle there is little or no response however once it has cleared (20 secs or so) the car runs sweet as a nut for the rest of my commute to work (40 miles each way) I have had this problem for a while and i thought it was cos it needed its 60k service, however i took it to my local Peugeot dealer and had this carried out 2 weeks ago and it didnt help at all. I called the garage and they took it in for the day and said they cleaned it all and earthed it ? then downloaded the latest software which would sort it (but it hasnt!)
Like i say once the engine has "cleared" whatever it is it runs sweet as a nut...
Im stuck guys and i dont fancy taking it back to peugeot and being charged £60 an hour while they "look" at it, any suggestions?
cheers in advance....

Well I was goin to suggest a blocked fuel filter but if its had a service then this should have been done!! Seems strange that it only does it for the first few mins. It seems that somethin cuts in, like air con, fan etc and it drains your power for a bit!! But why do it? And the revs aswell!! It could be a long shot but the coil pack mite be playing up!! (oh that reminds me, must look into spike protector) which means you could need a new one. Give peugeot a call, and explain the prob and ask if it could be the coil pack, when they say "We will have to take a look" say no, you just want their advice, ask what the problems could be!! They will try and get you to pop in but keep on at them until they give you some ideas!! Maybe others will know!!

Has the car cut out before?
This could be the sound (and Im sorry to say) of the dreaded Cut Out Problem!!
Normally the first port of call is changing the coil pack, then it goes into ECU, and other parts!!
Speak to peugeot before you see them!! Ask what the prob could be, but to be honest no one seems to know!!
Is the car under warranty mate?

is your management light coming on. the loss of power and flat spots does sound like coil problem. Also check the coolant temp sensor. Look in the'identify your car' section.

It just happened again tonight as i left work! I now know to give it a little run round the car park at work so this can occur before i head off as i have to pull out of a MAJOR junction and i dont fancy it stuttering here!!!
Unfortunatley the car is well passed warrnty now, i bought it second hand and unfortunatley any work is coming out of my pocket...
The weird thing is the fact that it only happens when i first set off, once its cleared the car is sweet as a nut... its almost like its blowing crap out of somewhere in the engine (hence the sound of air/liquid from left handside of engine whilst reving)
Stumpt would be the word!
Thanks for suggestions though peeps keep them coming

Bag of starmix it is!! I had a good look after the service and they are all siney and new. I even left a screw out of the air filter cover on purpose just to see wot they would do, and to be fair they put a brand new one in! (to right considering it cost 169.99 for a service) Cheers for looking into it for me! Starmix or sour? wots your poison

have u looked under your air filter to see whether its clear?.....it may also help to actually take out the airbox and have a look in the pipe.....and if u really wanna go xtra mile, then take out the entire intake unit (need to take off n/s/f wheel and undo wheel arch lining) to do however.
not sure if thats your solution, but i had probs in the past with water flooding the intake unit thus flooding the airbox.
