i've got a 2000 V 206 GTi, last year i changed the roll bar links due to a clonking coming from the front left but the damn noise is still there!!
Any ideas on what this could be would be gratefull, it's sending me mad!
thanks

When exactly does it clunk? If when going over bumps then that normally indicates a droplink which you've already changed. If its when you change from first to second this can be the engine buffer. I believe its a rubber pad that stops the engine twisting on its mounts. it tends to compress over time leaving a gap that the engine can move in. It was a common problem on early GTi's, until they changed to compound of rubber. I had mine changed when I first got the car as it was making a clunk sound changing from first to second.

thanks for the reply jonney, it's when I turn a corner, usually to the right and when the surface of the road is potmarked or rough, in fact everything that not glass smooth!! The steering lock can be at any degree of lock and it'll still do it. One thing I don't won't to do is take it to a Peugeot dealership as the robbing B*****DS will relieve me of 100 squid just to look at it (their phone quotation)!! Running out of ideas as i've had all the Koni stuff checked out to see if anything was loose, (Demon Tweeks). Any ideas?

cheers jonney My cars already booked into a garage this week for a oil change and pads, he knows of my problems with the suspension knocks so i'll pass the info to him. Nice one, I feel I might be getting somewhere now I'll post the outcome asap (I can feel my bank balance shrinking over this!) Jimbob
