Hmm:
* Never posted before. * 'Got' not 'bought'. * No manual. * A model which would appeal to a joy-rider. * Wants to know how to bypass the immobiliser.
You're not a car thief by any chance are you? ;D
On the assumption that you're not, then Welcome. Try your dealer they might be able to help. Even if its second hand, the local dealer still sounds like the best bet.

Failing that, asking a real car thief might work too ;D

Thanks for the info (and the gramer lesson). will the gits charge me an extorsionate amount for there trouble ? I did driive through a very large puddle the day before the problem started, so maybe this has done something to the electrics, I only thought it may be the immobiliser because I had a problem on an old XR2 many years ago. Any info welcome as I have not had the car long and already it's a non starter - not a happy chap !

Many thanks !!! It started perfectly this morning, I think you may have just saved me some hard earned cash, my only concearn is if it does it again and I'm a long way from home, do you know if this is a common thing to happen ? and if it's likly to happen again ? Also does the ECU have it's own power supply or some sort of capacitor to hold charge for a time after the battery is disconected and does it have to be over night or just a half an hour or something? Again thanks, I have many questions being new to Pugs I'll put them on the main prob page - this board forum thingy is great, and i thought it was just for geeks and perverts !

GREAT so all it took was a ECU reset! that is some hard earned cash saved....glad to hear it!
for the long duration query well if it happens your best try is to try the same thing again, lets say for an hour. or else join the AA cheapest option or prey for the best
THE ecu am sure has its on backup poer supply but not for a duration for longer than 12 hours i dont think...hence why the over night battery disconnection helped you.....
i'll have you know we are a wide broad of members here haha...ranging from geeks to perverts to in teh closet chavs haha...
any more problems post away and we'l try and help

I think disconnecting for 0.5 hour should be enough. I've had a ecu openned up before and no battery inside.
