Well, it had to happen. I'm not generally a "moaner", but I think I may have to take my car to another Peugeot dealer for it's warranty work in future!
As you're aware from my last thread, I bought the 206 Quiksilver that I was having doubts about...
Within days, I'd spotted 3 problems. I left them for a week to see if they were just "glitches", but yesterday after seeing no improvement, I decided to get them sorted under warranty.
The problems were related to the Multi-Function Display intermittently switching off along with the radio (at different times, I might add!) and a temperature gauge that has a mind of its own after a bit of "motorway driving".
I visited the dealer I bought the car from "in person" to make an appointment as they were an "unknown" quantity. (Not anymore).
I was told that I could have the repairs done today and the vehicle would be collected this morning, sometime after 8.30. Nice one!
At 10.00, I rang them because I was due to visit town and asked if it would be more convenient (as I was going that way, anyway) for me to drop the car off. I was met with a more than enthusiastic engineer who said that this would be fine, as long as I didn't have to incovenience myself! Nice manners. I appreciated that.
However, things changed when the car was returned at about 2pm this afternoon.
I had to leave immediately due to a problem at a customer's site. On climbing into the car, I noticed a loose silver button in the tray below the Multi-Function Display!
Odd? I wonder where that came from?
A little searching later, I realised it was the button used to adjust the direction of the cabin heater vents. It had been pulled off and the passenger-side vent on the centre console was damaged - all the slats were loose and the vent couldn't be adjusted!
I called the service department only to be told that the engineer who had worked on it had "been nowhere near it!".
Funny, I thought. In order to diagnose the display, the engineer would've had to pull the fascia off, surely?
It'd not take a detective to work out that if this was done whilst resting a hand on the vent that excessive pressure would cause the slats to be forced out of the holder, backwards!
The dealer is adamant that this vent hasn't been touched! It was fine when I dropped the car off! I would've asked for the vent to be repaired had it been broken before I took initial delivery!
I asked the administrator which part was still on order, but she was unsure. They're supposed to be replacing a "resistor" (supposedly why the STOP light flashes after motorway driving and the temperature meter rises and falls at random) and a new MFD.
Looking at the Collection/Delivery report I've been given, I'm under the impression that the MFD has already been replaced (I *KNOW* it's not - unless they come from the factory with an almost unnoticable screen defect on every unit which only an owner would notice!) and that they're waiting for the resistor.
Either way, my car has to go back to the dealers for further work!
The administrator said they'd have a look at the broken vent when it went back for the 2nd visit. I dare them to attempt to make this chargeable!
Not very comforting to know that the main dealer in my area treats its customers this way!
I'm thinking I should've kept the Cavalier...
