A battery is a battery, but be prepared to pay about £40-50 for a good quality one. No brand is necessarily better than others, but the quality ones usually retail for what I said above.
These 29.99 ones don't last, and if you can get one that actually says heavy duty on it somewhere as they are usually stonger

the mech who fitted me xorst says that for £40-50 he can sort me out a heavy duty good quality battery....so this is a good price judging by BIG's comments.....is it?

Is it definately the battery that's knackered? Has it been tested?

Parts / spares dealers use this device to check your battery (don't know what it's called). It's like 2 prongs that go across terminals with a meter in between. (and I'm an electrician ) I think it puts a load on your battery. You might find that with the longer days, and not using your lights, heated window so much that your battery will be ok. ps it is NOT a multimeter.

It may be worth getting the cahrging circuit checked as well, make sure that the battery is actually being charged when in use. If it wasn't it may well exhibit the symptoms you describe.
