My aircon has packed up on my 206, I have manual aircon... the light comes on when you press the switch, but no compressor engages! (the clunk and buz from under the bonnet!).
I'm not sure it is the compressor though as there used to be a 'click' just like the solenoid for the heated rear window that used to click in - the noise came from the fuse box below the steering wheel.
Does anybody know where the solenoid for the aircon is down there? there are loads of fuses but the aircon one isn't maked in the owners manual! I assume it must have a solenoid to work! and it doesn't now!? any ideas or pointers much appreciated!

The chances are that you've run out of refrigerant in the chiller; this would be the first thing to try. There are places around that'll recharge it for 20 or 30 quid - some others here may have found it cheaper. This is even more likely if you haven't used it for a while, as the seals dry out and the gas escapes.
There are plenty of places around that will do this... Pug will, for a price.

the gas ran out last year and pug did a full check on the system under warranty - I suspect they found a problem but didnt tell me...anyway I have been using the air con regularly right through until about two months ago when the car was not used for about three weeks! the first time i turned the aircon on again....IT GURGGLED!....it then started to work....the next time....Nothing!
I have just read on another pug forum that the clutch on the aircon compressor will not engage if there is no gass or very little in the system due to a preassure sensor! (as mine, all the lights come on, but nothing happens!) - I will try and get it re-gased tomorrow - I hope there is no damage to the system - I have heard it is bad to leave aircon without gas for a period of time!
I guess I will have to find out
