Thought I had slow puncture on tyre. Took to kwikfit. They said tyre was ok but alloy wheel was at fault. They said inner rim needed repaired as was flaky and laquer coming off. Checked when I got home and inside of alloy all flaky? I'll need to get wheel refinished. Has anyone else had problems with flaky alloys.

Not had it happen to myself but have heard and seen it happen, its quite common, usually caused by either the wrong detergent used cleaning the wheel, which eats into the laquer top and leads to the flaking, or road salts etc...that get in and sit there and corrode the spot its on.
You need to look up alloy refurb companies, usually or its quite common that proper alloy wheel companies also do refurb. Its not so bad in you situation as all you need to have done is it stripped down to surface, sprayed sliver and laquered again. Had a friend of my get his Jag Sovreign wheels done recently like this with the same problem and they charged £50 a corner. Which I though was cheap after seeing the condition of his wheels which had corrosion all over them.

I'm hoping they can do the inside of the wheel only as the outside still looks brand new and I don't want one wheel a slightly different colour from rest. (by inside I mean the side you only see if you lie under car). I'm going away on last weekend in month so will leave it with local firm then.

I have one wheel which has a very slow flat. I was also told that the lacquer was coming off and compromising the airtight seal. The guys at Charlie Browns cleaned it up and it has been okay since. It has started to leak a bit recently again but it's on the back so i just top it up now and then.
I have noticed that I have got through a fair amount of alloys. 3 in all over 4.5 years. All of them were caused by pot holes.
