Well, it looks like I have the start of the cutting out problem
The engine management light kept coming on a few weeks ago so I took it to Peugeot but they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I managed to convince myself that it was a dodgy conenction as the car was running fine.
3 weeks later and it was still coming on but the car was running fine so I wasn't overly concerned, just a bit annoyed by it.
Anyhow, I was heading home late last Friday night when the car lost all power and wouldn't rev. I was basically cruising down the road trying to find a safe place to stop. I pulled over, turned the engine off and on again and it seemed to be revving ok. I gave it a couple of good revs and decided to set off again. 10 seconds later it did it again!! I pulled over, turned the engine off and on again and it seemed ok. Manged to get home ok (20 miles!) It was so dangerous.
I phoned Peugeot Customer Care and asked about the free diagnostic check. They said that they could give me the number of my local dealer but they couldn't confirm that it would be free. I phoned the dealer and said that I had been told to contact them about the free check and they booked me in for this Monday coming. They seemed to take the problem seriously, which was good.
On the way to work this morning it cut out twice again. It was so dangerous, I couldn't find a layby to pull into and the hard shoulder was really narrow. I just about manged to narrowly miss getting totalled by two lorries!!
It was exactly the same problem as the other day, I pulled over, turned it off and on, revved it, seemed ok, set off and it died again. I pulled back over turned it off and on and set off again. Fortunately I managed to get to work ok.
Does anyone know if Peugeot will change whatever needs changing for free, or am I likely to get a huge bill?
I'm so worried about driving home
If they can't fix it I think I'm going to have to sell the car.......
Oh and my rear view mirror fell off this morning as well!
Anyone any ideas as to what sort of glue to stick it back on with?
I'm glum
