Anyone else have a wire (with connector on the end) under their back seat (shows when bottom part lifted before folding down back part) that doesn't go anywhere? Is this normal? Does it mean I've got the wrong wiring loom? If so could that explain all my electrical problems? Should it be there but connected to something? Again could that explain my problems?

Could be the loom for say the 6 disc boot changer or something.
Most car makers put a standard main loom in and just attach the things that are necessary for that spec, then if you have options fitted then the wiring is in place for it to happen.
Ask your dealer I did when I had a loose wire and they fitted it back okay for me while I waited.

Thats what I would have said, can you trace wire back to its other end?
If you get a pic of the connector we could see if we have n e thin similar!!

[quote author=LeeXS If you get a pic of the connector we could see if we have n e thin similar!![/quote] OK, a couple of pictures (its taken a while (only had a digital camera for 2 days)). For comparison this wire wasn't there on the 1.1s courtesy car I gave back last week.

I agree that looks like a socket for lighting. There is a junction to serve the light and another to serve a further circuit. Have you checked your alarm connection under the boot lock clasp and also you boot light?

The green/yellow wire will be an earth connection so it looks like it would go to some kind of switch.
