Please read the following, this is now a confirmed recall, and here is the UK press release.
Peugeot find 206 brake fault Peugeot is issuing a safety recall on thousands of its 206 models because of a potential problem in its braking system. Up to 280,000 right hand drive cars, many built at the Ryton plant near Coventry, are being recalled after the fault was found.
But the company has reassured owners that the risk of the brakes failing is very low.
They said the fault "in very rare circumstances" could affect cars built before February 2002.
Sufficient parts will be shipped to dealers by Monday to cope with the expected demand for parts.
Andrew Didlick, spokesperson for Peugeot says they will contact those people whose cars are affected.
Letters will be sent out to car owners from next week warning that a pin in the brake pedal needs replacing.
Peugeot has set up a customer helpline - 0845 60 206 206 - for owners requiring advice or assistance.
Vehicles built after February 2002 are not affected.
