Ok, the discs are Tarox G88's (40 groove), pads are EBC GreenStuff Halo's are standrard dual's with elec adjust from www.dcp-shop.co.uk/ and fitted with an 8000K HID kit (would have liked 4500K but none in stock). Anyone looking at HID's, please dont fit them into the standard lights as they glare something rotton at oncoming drivers. These produce a nice clean cutoff with that blue edge to it (e.g. same as BMW's etc)

The 8000k kit was £199 on Ebay, not the best kit as its all custom.
If someone was looking at doing it themselves I would suggest getting OEM Balasts, standard D2S bulbs and H7-D2S mounting adaptors.

when u upgraded your brakes from the OEM tot he tarox, were the two types of discs different in diameter? or were they the same?
for example, yours might be 247mm and the tarox are 266mm???
obviously you aint gonna test them out to its limit just yet, but let us know how much difference it has had the braking plz.

They were the same as the old ones (266mm). There are 2 offsets though for the discs & they sent me the wrong ones that put the disc to close to the wheels on the first attempt. The standard fitment on the 2.0 HDi has bigger front disc's and bigger rear drums than most of the other 206's (266mm front discs and 205mm rear drums over 247mm and 183mm respectivly)
The braking is alot harsher and more responsive. I think thats due to the pad materials rather than anything else. Under hard braking (when trying to bed them in, only do it once after 50 miles to heat the pads up) they did not fade and actually supprised me how quickly it stopped me (ABS just slightly kicking in)

reason i ask is coz me current brakes (247mm) are pants and i wanna upgrade them to something better and was thinking of getting the GTi front discs and calipers.
i think your old ones are the same as off the GTi coz thats also 266mm?
i managed to sourcec some from a breakers yard near me and its £90 for both calipers/discs/inc VAT, so that aint too bad.....but just wana know the possibility of actually doing it.

has your braking improved a great deal. My gti brakes are a bit disappointing. I had expected stronger brakes when I got car. Do you think it is worthwhile changing up to grooved discs and new pads? pps........Green stuff pads?

M3ran: They are true HID's. These need the starter moduals to run them, see engine photo's 3 & 5 for the little boxes that drive them.
Blackpug: It all depends what you want from the brakes. There is less effort needed to bring the car to a stop than the standard discs but I think thats due to the pads more than the discs. The reason for the grooved discs is that I sometimes took my old car around a track so wanted to give the brakes a small upgrade for when I push the 206. The grooves help to stop pad glazing and brake fade at higher temps.
Chi_Chee & Blackpug: I would probably say that you would be looking at doing a full on brake conversion to get what you really want out of your braking system. If you dont mind spending a few £££ I would probably suggest trying out a set of GreenStuff pads to see if it makes a difference on your standard discs. It can't get any worse.

Thats what I keep telling him, just change the pads first before the whole brake assembly.
Good work Qwakrz, they look fantastic, second only person I seen fit them
Want to do a How To on them??
