When I start my 206 xsi, sometimes it shows up an Anti Pollution Fault in the centre display. I was wondering if anyone has had this fault and whether it has been fixed yet, if so what is the fix?
I have been back to peugeot with the car numerous times yet it still hasn't been fixed!
Any Comments etc would be appreciated.

My GTi came up with this (and 'Catalytic Converter Fault') a few weeks ago.
The dealer had it in for a couple of days to check and found no problems with the exhaust itself, but they did download a new ECU firmware. Apparently it was just a sensor reading issue.

I had the anti pollution fault on my GTi about 4 months ago, came on a day after the dealer had downloaded some new software/profiles for the ECU. Dealer just reset the ECU but error came back on 5 mins down the road. In the end the dealer put a new ECU in the car and checked the wiring loom - since this it's been fine.

Mine sometimes returns a "faulty EGR valve" interminent fault, but it's clearly just a glitch, since EGR works fine, i've checked. If it stopped working altogether i wouldn't mind too much really, it does nothing useful for me anyway...

Well I hope you are more successful than I have been. I purchased a 2002 206 HDI model just a few weeks ago. I have suffered from just the same problem as you describe, When I turn the ignition key the display screen somtimes shows the message - Anti Pollution Fault. This message goes out within seconds and as I say only sometimes appears and can often not appear for days. I have had the car into 3 different peugeot dealers regarding this problem and each tell me that the so called diagnostics machine is not finding a problem and basically there is nothing that can be done!! Apparently just a software error and its not important as long as the message doesnt flash when driving, they have reinstalled the software over 5 times. YET STILL I have the same issue that according to Peugeot can not be rectified. I dont accept this at all and think the service is appauling, I have an error message and they are telling me there is nothing that can be done about it! On another note, I also have god knows how many different ratttle noises comming from the rear end of the car when driving along nothing other than the smoothest road! Other issues such as Squeaky brakes and of course my car being one of the 270,000 cars recalled for possible brake faliure issue that has been well publicised very recently. How an earth is it possible that a so called professional car manufacture allows cars to be constructed with a dodgy pin that if snaps causes complete break failure which has been reported on 13 occasions fortunately causing no fatal injuries, lucky for peugeot! This has resulted in a recall of about 270,000 cars, hopefully will cost peugeot a fortune and teach them a lesson, but i doubt it! In my view its a complete Joke. I tell you the build and service quality is shockingly poor and I will certainly not be purchasing a Peugeot or reccommending a Peugeot in the future unless I really dont like the person ! This is my first and last peugeot, I'm kickin myself i didnt go for the New Golf TDI where the service reputation and build quality is superb! Hopefully I'll shift this heap of junk as soon as possible! If only i knew a few weeks ago what i know now!

jamie1979Perhaps, but bear in mind that your golf would cost you so much you'd need to sell both your kidneys, a lung and possibly your corneas to afford even the basic model, which although the outside looks good, the interior, well. There's a lot of lovely plastic, I'll say that much for it! ;D If you want anything other than the bog standard wheelbarrow with a souped up lawnmower engine, you have to lop in your soul along with the lung! Don't put up with the service you are getting, but don't tar all peugeots with the same brush! They are very nice, in my experience, very reliable cars. I shouldn't post when I've been drinking, should I? ;D ;D

Squiggs, Thats fair play you do make some very good points ;D I must admit I was very harsh in my post towards peugeot. I just had such a bad experience within 3 weeks of ownership and the recall business was the final straw. I guess I wrote most of that post when I was very angry. It is true that Golfs especially the model i wanted the PS 150 GT TDI is sooooo expensive, 17k ish and your right again, I was not impressed at all by the quality of the interior, not special whatsoever. It was for those 2 above reasons why i did go for the 206, it was way cheaper, allmost 1/2 price and i do like the interior better. I must admit I do like the 206's its just unfortunate that ive had a bad experince with one and received a poor level of service. I dont really think its a heap of junk ha ha ha i guess I was very angry at the time!, I will keep the car on a trial for a few months and see what happens, hopefully ill have no problems One thing does annoy me if anyone has any ideas...... The boot door when closed does have movement it is not a tight shut at all, and you can notice the movement when u push against it when its closed. I mention this because when ever i go over a small bump or an uneven road all i hear from the back is clank clank squeak squeak as the sound of the boot door is banging I think its the locking mechanism that doesnt create a tight grasp. I checked it out and the pin the boot door latches onto is thin and plastic and i think it is this that causes the boot not to close tight. Any ideas how to fix this i tried to wrap electrical tape around the plastic pin to make it thicker - This did work and there was no movement when the boot was closed. Only problem was the clasp ripped through the tape after opening and closing the boot a few times. Unfortunately I need to use the boot on a daily bases so this option was no good to me.. Anybody else found a fix for this problem that i believe is common amonst all 206's.. Thanks

You just really need to play hardball with the dealer. If you have problems, simply demand to have them fixed. If they don't, then kepp pushing, a little firmer each time until it gets to the stage where you threaten legal action (this usually works wonders!)
As for the boot problem, I've had two 206s and a few of my mates have had them and my girlfriends mum has one and none of us have ever noticed this problem (I asked around and checked mine out). At the end of the day, if you have to resort to taping things up to try and make them better, it's not right. Another trip to the dealer sounds like the solution! And don't let them away with it!
It's a genuinely great little car, but the aftersales does suck. Just make them so fed up seeing you they'll do whatever it takes to fix it! ;D

I've been playing aroung with this boot play since day one. 3+ years and counting, now... ;D Well, apparently, if the boot is closed the boot door have play when pushed, and rattle quite a lot when the car is driven over slightest bump. Way around this is to readjust the part of the lock secured to the car chasis (where the small pin is located, the one you wrap the insulating tape around), there are 2 torx screws on the lock that you should unfasten, and push the whole lock inwards toward the boot for...well, see and try, try 2-3mm for a start. That will reduce play in the boot so it will rattle less...Another thing to try: on the boot door, at each corner, there is a small rubber distancer (that should be adjustable, but it isn't). This distancer should've been made in such a manner that if you extend it a little bit it should space out the door from the lock when the boot is closed, tensioning the lock a bit more and reducing play. What i've done is i've glued two plastic rings, about 5mm thick, to the exact place where the distancers touch the chassis when the boot is closed, spacing out and tensioning the boot door in that way. Now, if you tension the door by putting rubber under the distancers, or by repositioning the locking mechanism, that will all reduce play of the boot door, and you'll be fine for some time. But, this way the door lock will eat away the door lock pin at the lower part of the lock, and if that happens you'll get a creaking noise from the pin, instead from the playing door. The "cure" would be to get a strap of strooong fabric (NOT insulating tape, the lock eats through it in no time) and wrap it around the pin. The lock will eat away the fabric slower than the tape, and you'll have no play in the door and no creaking from the pin either. More you pretension the door, faster the lock will eat away the pin and its wrapping, trick is to get the tensioning just right. I usually re-wrap this pin in new piece of fabric every month or so, in the meantime the rattling is gone. I can live with that ;D ;D ;D
