I was in London this weekend at my g/f parents, me and the g/f were driving back from the cinema from Staines and we come off a dual carriage way to some lights and it goes to a 40 area, all 4 lanes merge into 2 lanes after the lights so you always get racers lining up there... Anyway I was driving with fogs and halos on (kinda wanted to show them off a little as it was 11pm) and pulled up to the lights, then a beemer M3 with fogs and sidelights on pulls up beside me, young lad with a smirk grin on his face, knew he was going to race it and get in front... The lights go, we are off and he pulls in front for the lane merge, I tail him and we get to about 60, but half a mile down the road is a cop car stopped on the side of the road, for soem reason the copper was walking from the central reservation towards his car, sees the beemer and gets his flashlight out, I'm pooping myself, I slow down and switch the dipped lights on and turn the fogs off, the beemer slows down and pulls over and as I pass the copper he was glaring at the car and I just carried on... I no longer race from lights anymore after that, I know that the beemer was only going to get a warning for driving with fogs on as there were no speed guns out monitoring traffic, so in a sense we were both lucky, but as I pulled off after the initial guilt I started laughing imagining what the beemer driver must have been thinking as he stopped... sucker... about time I saw a beemer get pulled over

Good that you escaped Wardy.
£80 seems a bit steep - didn't realise fines had gone up so much...

Drove under 2 bridges on M6 and M74 yesterday doing about 80. Too late to notice vans with 'road safety camera' printed on same. Both were on quiet stretch of motorway. Should read 'money making camera'. Hope I was ok. Should they not park these outside schools?

Sorry I didnt explain very well!!. The blue audi with blue light was parked in a lay by!! I zoomed past at 95 - the three cars in front and 1 behind were all over the speed limit aswell!! There was no flash!!

If they were doing speed checks then there won't be any flash. They use a gun facing backwards and the gun and the other policeman will take a photo on digital cameras. Bit like those new binoculars that can take digital stills aswell as zoom in on what you want to look at.

Would an unmarked blue audi with one blue light on have a camera in it?
I thought they had to be marked and you had to see them within 100yds!!

Would an unmarked blue audi with one blue light on have a camera in it? I thought they had to be marked and you had to see them within 100yds!! Er, well the copper could be just sitting in the back pointing the handheld gun at you!! Don't have to be mounted. And they don't have to announce themselves unless there isn't signs indicating that its a used radar spot, you know the ones about the size of A4 with just a radar symbol on it, thats says that speed checks are often carried out on that streach of road. Usually they are used as evidence gatherers and the acutal booking takes place at a roadblock further up the road with uniformed traffic officers. Or thats how it works up my way. So you go merrily passed them at god knows what speed and about half mile to a mile down the road, usually with a layby they flag you down. I wasnt so fortunate i got flashed at 133mph dammit but so did the cosworth i was trying to keep up with, doh might be back on the board after my ban if i can afford the insurance huff....... Is this a recent thing?? Or you currently serving the ban.
