You have done exactly what I have done and it is a totally different car. On a hot day I reckon it develops about 143hp and in cooler air I think more like 145hp.
You made the right choice, apart from the fact I would have liked to have a powerflow exhaust now.
My dealer knows I have changed the air filter and says it doesn't bother him with the warranty aspect. As long as the modified parts are designed to be used with that vehicle their for. Only thing they did say is if I lowered it, I would waiver the suspension warranty but everything else would remain okay

My dealer said the warrenty would be void with a diff air filter on, he said it would change back pressure etc and could cause problem and blah blah blah, w*****

I think I've had less problems since I changed my air filter and exhaust . The air filter is very easy to fit, and consequently easy peasy to remove, therefore when the car takes the trip to the dealership put the old paper filter back in and they'll be none the wiser! My exhaust has not caused any problems and either way the exhaust is a consumable and is not covered under the 3 yr pug warranty!

Yeah i know but i'm too lazy to take it off every time i have my car serviced so will just have to suffer the humiliation of a standard car

Go and speak to another dealer in your area and get a second opinion OR perhaps speak to Peugeot UK - if you get it in writing from Peugeot UK then no one can argue with you!

How likely am i to get a response from Pug UK within the next two years... I don't think it'll be worth the hassle

Nah don't bother writing to Pug UK they will say they designed it to work in a particular way and support the dealer.
Change the filter every time before service sounds good, but better is to find a new dealer. If anything the K&N or Pipercross filter is actually a better product than Pugs version

The best performance upgrade in terms of BHP per £££ is a nitrous kit. Get a decent one for 550-600 USD and off you go, easy 50-100bhp, there's nothing in the tuning world that will come close in beating it £ for £.

Getting back to air filters here, I am really tempted to change the one in my 1.4 SW.
Are you guys talking about the paper replacement filters from K&N / Pipercross or the induction kit (57i type of thing)?
Is the induction kit good value for money, or not - remeber I only have a crappy 75bhp to start with so the difference between 2 and 4 bhp is quite a bit more significant in my case!!
As for an exhaust on my car, well you may have noticed (if you have taken a closer look at an SW) you can't see the exhaust at all from the back, so don't care what it looks like - are they any 1.4 performance exhausts around?
BTW, before anyone suggests that I sell it and buy a GTi, I won't because I have had one before and don't want another !

No get the K&N cotton rechargable filters they are much better, if you stuff a paper one in yer just replacing like for like really. they will give about 3-5hp more 57i induction kits are really cool, but remember (and the reason why i didn't do it) is it makes you motor a lot noisier (sporty noise though) as you hear it suck the air in. If you do go for a K&N 57i induction get the carbon heat sheild one (57i turbo or something) cos they are worth the extra money. It protects the air from getting hot from the engine and then you get really cold air always going in which is really good, cos you get more oxygen = bigger bang. I reckon this will give 5-8hp more, but my opinion is that they are noisy, and if you don't want to draw attention then best avoided. Check out www.knfilters.com/57i/57i-6505.pdf to see how they work in general for a gti For exhausts - yeah there must be one somewhere, check powerflow's website cos they make custom exhausts and if you can't get the tail end they will be able to do the rest. Website will tell you dealer locations www.powerflow.uk.com/

i fitted a green induction kit, (they said there wasn't a kandN and the green was used on the rally cross thing.) very easy and it does give that sporty noise. first time i took it out i though the exhaust was gone. gets the looks but i'm not sure it's really made much diff to the gti.

try max power mag thats were i got the phone number for a local supplier had one fitted to my golf gti it was the best exhaust ever but some theiving sod robbed it got myself a 206 gti now gonna start modding soon. Where do you get these powerflow exhausts. I have looked on their website and appears that you specify online what you want - but how the hell do you know what to get etc. Reason why I went for a high quality direct replacement for mine from Magnex
