I think I will just drop Pug UK a little e-mail and see what they say. better safe than sorry! a normal life of a cambelt varies........60k - 90k dependent on your driving (whether its long or lots of short journeys) i changed mine at 60k....just to be on the safe side!

Very true, I'm getting worried now. How much did it cost you?

ermmmmm...........depends really on where u live and what labour rates are?
i cant remember exactly what i paid for mine, coz i got a new clutch and a service done at the same time.....total cost of about £420 or something like that.
call round some local places and get them to do it........there are other things to change aswell me think.......something like pre-tensioners/water pump etc etc....sure someone else will clear this up.

Don't even think about getting a cambelt to do 144k. Read your manual I think it says 60K
Get it changed at 60-70K and no more.

defo get it changed early. if that baby goes at speed, youre looking at all sorts of nastiness...bent valves, gouged pistons, possibly even bent cranks always better to err on the side of caution

Yep, get it changed.
also get the waterpump and the lower belt pully as they are known to break on HDi's (but could just be 2.0's)

i was told my 2.0 HDi didn't need a cambelt change untill 90,00 by a dealer but had it changed at 65,000 to be on safe side as i didn't know anyone who dare leave it that long before a change.it cost me just over £100,if belt snapped it would a be a LOT bigger bill.

You would be safer to get it done for all it costs. Just be thankful you don't have a gti. Engine has to be moved off it's mounts to get into cambelt. Lots of work and lots of money.
