Hi there,
Have had the aircon on a few times.
But I have noticed that after I switch the aircon off, there is like a real damp smell in the car. This is obviously after having the air con on.
I use to have a Honda CRX, 11 years old, never had a smell.
Also, I want to upgrade the front speakers. I read that I could just pop the grills off.
I tried, but it seemed to me that the front door grills are part of the trim ?
Can anyone put light on these issues please ?
many thanks

Not sure about air con, my model doesnt have it, but with the speakers, you need to take the whole door card off to get at the speakers.
From haynes max power:
1: First, undo the screw at the front of the door, just above the door pocket. As you can see, access is a little tricky.
2: Remove the screw in the door pull. Take out the door pull panel, or it will only fall out later.
3: Prise off the small panel towards where the mirror control comes through. You may have a tweeter in there - if so, disconnect the wiring.
4: And the last door screw to remove is behind the panel.
5: Remove the door handle surround, prising it off carefully with a screwdriver.
6: Lever the door panel off carefully, starting at the lower rear corner, until you hear the retaining plugs pop.
7: Remove the door panel and put it to one side in a safe place.

There are 'air freshener' things you can buy to put in the air cond unit!! This will stop the smell, I get it all the time, not nice is it!! I am not sure why this does it, but to solve the prob then these freshner things help. Someone was trying to solve this recently!! Not sure who!!
The grilles will just pull off, get a screw driver, and leaver it off from the edge as the clips are in the four 'corners'.
Sorry I moved the thread, but is really a prob!!

I thought the speaker grilles were moulded to the door panels Lee? And thats what it says in the haynes max power book

Well it helped me hehe! I have a grey interior and was thinking of painting these gloss black with a silver outline, think that would make them stand out!

for smelly a/c, i believe therz a spray that u can buy that u spray into your a/c thingy (it has been discussed before, so look thru the forum) and leave it on for 10mins or smoething, this basically clears any bacteria, mould etc from the a/c system.

Some models you can just remove speaker grill. Others like mine you have to remove the full door trim. There is a how to on..... 206gti.net/

Stuff I have used before in a car to clean the air con is the Comma stuff.
You set the car in recirculate mode, open the blower to max and just flick the switch on the can and leave it in the back somewhere, it filters round the system and about 30 mins later is good to drive again.
Well recommended
