Hi Guys, As if all the other stuff that's wrong with my car wasn't enough for one woman to handle......now I've got a really annoying rattle from the spare wheel cage/basket thingy. I unscrewed it to swap my spare wheel over and since I tightened it back up it won't stop rattling. I've done the obvious thing and checked that I've tightened it up enough and it won't tighten anymore. There isn't any more thread for it to thread on to . Is there supposed to be a spacer or something that might have fallen out? Has anyone else experienced this? Maybe I just need to add some foam packing or something? What with my rear view mirror falling off and the f***ing annoying rattle coming from the back I'm wondering what's next....wouldn't surprise me if the engine falls out

try placing some cardboard on top of the nut and placing something heavy on top to hold the nut down.....then go for a drive to see whether the annoying rattle is still there?

There is a spacer. It's made of bent sprung rod and goes between spare wheel and underside of boot.

My wifes first 206 had missing spacer. I got block of wood about 3 inches square and 8 inches long and tightened wheel up onto this. (ie, put it between wheel and boot)

i had that rattly spare wheel thingy, i just packed the inside of the spare with some rags.or you could get a bigger size wheel if you just have a space saver wheel!
