Nope. ABS works on all wheels only now, it now incorporates electronic brake distrubtion units which spread the load of the braking to the most gripped wheels to allow stronger braking and shorter stopping distances. If you have drums you will not have ABS. Drums can't cope with the way ABS works. Um are you sure? Mine has ABS, and its one of the few things that actually works on the car. But it also has drums on the rear wheels. Does your comment above mean that they should have upgrading to rear discs instead of the standard drums when fitting the ABS system?

You have it fitted aftermarket I think, so your ABS will only be working on the front driving wheels where there is also discs. If this was not the case and you wanted ABS on all four wheels then Pug would have needed to fit a higher spec model rear axle to your car for you to have ABS on all four wheels.
As you have drums on the rear and if ABS is fitted then it won't be working on those wheels, if it is then I will personally give you a fiver and buy you a pint.
Its just not possible to pump the brake shoes in drum brakes in the same fashion as the pads to against a disc via a caliper.

You have it fitted aftermarket I think, Nope, factory fitted when the vehicle was built - the optional ABS as available on a new LX. Should this normally include rear discs, or does this normally only work on the front?

You can have ABS on drum brakes. The hub has the notches machined into it (for the sensor to monitor) and instead of operating a caliper it just pulses the cylinder/piston instead...

quickest way to tell for sure if abs fitted or not....
lock steering around poke head in wheel arch if driveshaft has a pulser ring (shiny castle wall looking ring around cv) jobs a gud en.

Good description...wish mine was shiny though!!
And there's also 2 wires/pipes running down to the front hub area...one is a brake hose, the other is the abs sensor cable

ABS does work with drums, got it on my new 206 (2004 model so new to me on 2/2/05) and also had it on my Escort. Both have / had drums on the rear & with the escort I can gntee that it works (dont ask how though ) -edit- Just had the 206 chipped (now 119bhp & 199lbs/ft) and my ABS went skits when it detected the back wheels not turning but the fronts doing 108MPH. I have drums on the rear of the 206.
